For all you New Yourkers I am here and have been since the 8th and will remain here at least till the 8th of August. Sold a condo and here now to clean it out for the new people.

I need to sell my car which is a REAL low mile 2002 Camaro Z-28 35th Anniversery Edition and the last year made. Should be a collectors item by now. I need to check the internet to see how much to ask for this bad boy. My buddy Howard who picked me up at the airport filled the tires with air from his Danali. That was cool. I got the car started but it wouldn't hold an idle. I took it to a shop who couldn't fix it because there wasn't a mechanic and by the time I got back in the car it was running perfect so nothing to fix now. Today I get an oil change and a wash.

Yesterday I got a new reg and applied for a new title. They say 5-7 days which is quicker than I expected.

I also sold 2 rooms of furniture and only have 5 rooms more to go. Wooooo Hoooo!

Yesterday I renewed the reg and applied for a new title which I am supposed to get in 5-7 days and then I advertise and sell my car.

Today I will get a new sim for my phone so I don't have to pay 20 bux a minute on my DR Phone and I am in business.

Need to sell my hand guns and a riot shotgun now also but haven't seen my permit for a LONG LONG time so need to get that re-issued first. I will go up to Ulster County Sherrifs office on Monday for that.

Yesterday when my sister helped me out taking me to Motor Vehicle Office I bought some clothes. I come here with 3 empty suitcases and go back full every time I travel and I plan on buying more clothes today.

I know I haven't posted in months but a lot has been going on. First things first, been renovating two condos in Sosua with new windows, doors, Mahogony Kitchens and a/c's. I have bought a lot on the internet about 5 years ago in Cabrera when I was in NY to sell a property. What can I tell ya, I was bored as hell and was surfing ebay which I NEVER do. Saw a property in Cabrera I ended up buying for 7 dollars a m2. Had to pay a surveyor to show my friend where it was. 2000 m2 on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was a beautiful piece but no homes around it. La Catalina is a section of Cabrera where many foreigners live and I originally was going to build a home on that property to live in. Now that I have a home it looks like that is out of the question for now at least. I started work on the property a month ago when they started a new home directly next to the property. They had already build 2 houses behind me and another is half built next to those. It is turning into a decent neiborhood so I decided to make it nice. I started by clearing the land with a crew of Haitians. I then hired the same crew to clear 10 feet all around the property. I built Stone walls in the front with 10 ft high pillars at the entrance and put in Steel Gates that lock. I have been planting flowering shrubs and fruit trees in this 10 feet clearing around the property. I have hired a Haitian worker full time to maintain my house, my small finca and now this property in La Catalina. Today I went to my favorite Plant Nursery Cafe Flor. I was going to buy a truckload (my little SUV) but ended up buying a larger truck load since they are going to deliver for free. I bought a Cherry Tree, a Mango Tree, a striated Orange Tree for juice and a whole bunch of flowering shrubs. It is being delivered tomorrow at 9am and I will get the whole truck load in the ground by mid day hopefully:) I have pictures in my camera but too tired to resize and upload now but will soon. This is my new baby Goat born 2 weeks ago now. She is the exact same color of her father who was also born on my farm. Had a hiatus at the farm and didn't have and new kids in a while and I was happy when she popped out and was healthy.

I have a few more pregnant ones running around so in a couple of weeks I expect more good news.

Below is my new baby lamb. I am starting to like the sheep a little more now for some reason. I plan on buying a few females to add to the 1 female and 3 males I already have so I can have more. I went last week into the campo to buy a few but the road was so bad I didn't know if I was going to have to sleep in my car because by the time I finally returned I had an awful time of getting out of mud. . I will return at the end of the month and hopefully the road to the finca where I want to buy some will be open. . Hasta Pronto!

The birds are coming

I have these vulture type birds flying all around the cliffs where I live. My guess is they like riding the currents. They do screw around with Elvis flying low and then running over the cliffs hoping he follows and then get a good meal but he is a little smarter, thankfully. He is getting great excercise now that I have the neighboring cows fenced out chasing these birds when the cows aren't in the neighboring field and he is herding them and harrassing them:) Now instead of "GET THE VACA" it is "Get the Birds" and off he goes. He is getting stronger and stronger now back to chasing animals. . Elvis started his first protection training last week and he hit the stuffed pillow real hard, spit it out and was looking for his agitator. He is going to be money well spent for sure! Most Dominicans and Haitians are scared to death of his agressiveness and his smile:) . Hasta Pronto!

One of my daily Bike Rides

I am still discovering this area so I go every nice day and a lot of day that aren't so nice on my dirt bike up in the mountains, down to the shore to visit beaches and all things to explore the area.

When I lived in Sosua there were about 15 guys with both dirtbikes and 4 wheelers that would go just about every Sunday which I loved. Haven't met people with dirtbikes here yet so I am doing it by myself which isn't as much fun because I have no other person to laugh at and with yet. I am sure some of my friends will end up coming this way to see the area and I will meet some people here so I will eventually get a group together again. I can't wait but solo it is till it happens.

This is one of three private coves I had discovered in my jeep years ago but the trip in the mountains ended back on the main highway between Cabrera where I live and the next city down the road. So on my way back on the highway I decided to this one on the bike for the first time.

This is a great piece of land with a beach that is a few miles wide and three coves with little beaches as well.

This is cove number 2.

This is the third and last cove. I love this place and now that I am living closer I will have to remember to pack a lunch and cooler and take the family here one day or many days! Very rarely do I see more than a few people in miles and miles of beach.

Bike trip

I stopped on my way home at a few beaches. I ended up back on the main highway somewhere between Cabrera and Nagua. Took a picture where they take tourists on these riduculas jeep Safari which means you get to bounce around on the back of an uncomfortable 5 ton truck and either bake or get wet the whole way:)

You sorry Assed tourists can't figure out on your own you are getting prepackaged BS for a lot of money:) This is near where the River meets the Ocean in La Entrada. This is one of many places here where Colombus first set forth in the New World:) There are at least 3 places here that claim that and since no one is left living we will never know if it was any of the three!

This is the start of the trip going south from my house up into the hills of the north coast. I am actually pretty far up into the hills already maybe 10-12 miles.

This is looking the other way down back towards the ocean. My home is on the first level cliff below but it looks like I am high up when you look from there.

This is my puppy Elvis coming back from a romp in the fields where he was chasing chickens around this morning and this is the bike I took today. It is a Yamaha TW200 and it is a great bike for here doing this kind of riding. Hasta Pronto!

Bee Stings

I went to the small finca in Cabrera to do some cleaning yesterday and must have been stung by 2 bees or hornets or something which was real painful. Also blew up like the Hulk.

I knew I had a big head but now it even looks like it:)

I have a picture but don't want the kids to get nightmares. BTW, I am allergic to bee stings so I look worse than others do.

My new bike!

This is the new bike I bought a month or so ago. It is a 2005 Yamaha Midnight Star Silverado 1700 cc Cruiser.

I also have a Yamaha 2007 TW200 on/off road bike but wanted a bike to take on the highway. Needless to say there aren't many bikes of this size here in the DR so it gets a lot of attention.

This is bigger than I have ever owned or ridden and it took some getting used to. 800 lbs soaking wet is a big mother and I can't imagine what I will do if I ever drop it as I know I can never get the SOB back up by myself and would need 3 men and a boy to help me.

I took it to Nagua on 3 Kings Day and boy did it draw a crowd!

Plans for new Finca

I know many of you think I haven't been doing much because I haven't been blogging but alas, I have.

You will see below pictures of my new finca in Cabrera with the fruits and veggies but here is the basic design of a commercial plaza I am planning for this property.

This isn't exactly how it will look but it is a start. I also am working on elevations of the front and will post them in a few days along with tweaked versions of this plan.

New mini finca in Cabrera

I just sold yesterday a small lot I owned in Sosua on the main Highway. I bought it 3 years ago and paid 30k for it and sold it for 100k. I have a good eye for Real Estate and have always been lucky as well as good.

After moving to Cabrera I wanted to have a similar piece of property on the main hwy and got a little lucky as the people who owned it used it as a small farm.

As most of you know I own a small farm in Sosua which is about 15000 m2 or close to 4 acres where I started from Scratch clearing, building stone walls, a farm building, 12000 gallon cistern, a roofed structure in a pasture so the animals can get out of the rain, and planting veggies and fruit trees along with raising Goats and Sheep.

This is my second farm in Sosua because someone came and offered me STUPID money for the first which I rolled over into another that was three times the size and 5 times as nice. I actually had an offer on the newer finca in Sosua which fell apart as the Russian who wanted it got clipped in the worldwide financial crisis which didn't really bother me as I loved the place. So when I moved to Cabrera, I not only got the Highway property I wanted but I got a small farm which I have been eating beans, plantano, coconuts, bananas, oranges, grapefruit and battata already. This is a bunch of Plantains which will be ready in a few weeks.

I have in addition Manzano de Oro, Catania, Mango, Avacados, and much much more. . My girlfriend negotiated this deal and closed the deal with only advice from me. She is finishing a degree in "Infomatica" which I believe is "I T" or information technology but I want her to have the skills to make real money:) I found the property and when I saw the owners were elderly Dominicans I asked my girlfriend to do the deal which she readily agreed. She hired a attorney and a surveyor and although there were a few problems such as having 200 m2 less than the title said completed the deal successfully at a very good price.

I am sure I can double or triple my money in a year or two on this deal!

Some differences between Sosua and Cabrera

Sosua is a tourist town that on any given night will have 200-500 hookers in the streets plying their trade. Although sex for money is different here than in the States it is a bit much for me at times.

Cabrera is NOT a real tourist town although it has what is called "Villa Tourism" where people spend from 5000 to 50,000 US dollars for a week in various villas.

Since we don't get the cheap tourist by the droves the amount of prostitutes is much less although there are some here. The ones here are also way more Low Keyed and hard to know sometimes although I can say the same for Sosua where there are some very nice gals working as prosititutes.

So, the name of the blog is no longer connecting with FantasyLand as it was when I was living in Sosua. It is now relating to the "Ponderosa" with Horse and Little Joe because that is what the difference feels like to me.

Elvis in da house

This fine lad is Elvis. He is a German Shepherd I bought as a pup and if you go back in the blog you will see this guy as a little person. He is actually still a little person at under 8 months old but he is healthy and strong. He was living on my farm in Sosua working with goats and sheep till about 3 weeks ago when I brought him up to Cabrera to protect the house. I had been hearing a lot of stories of robberies before Christmas when things get a bit crazy here in the DR with crime. Haven't heard a thing since and haven't had a problem.

The fellow I bought this guy from also owns the father and mother. The father just finished his Dominican Championship. I plan on showing Elvis as I think he will also do very well in the show ring. I know he is a great specimen because he can run down a sheep in 2 minutes and since this is what they were bred for he must move very well to do it so fast. Movement and looks is what they are judged on so he has both. He is about 70 lbs now although he lost some shape since coming over from the farm and no long works other than protecting the house.

Man the more I look at him the more I like him as a good specimen of the German Shepherd Dog (in Spanish "Pasteur Aleman".

It will be exciting to see what he looks at in 1 year. That's when he will be full grown.

Ok folks I am back!~

First I would like to wish everyone a very very happy and healthy New Year!

I laid off the blog for several reasons. First my dad died in October which was right in the middle of me moving to Cabrera but I was in NY for 10 days trying to sort things out after the funeral.

I then moved to Cabrera which was a big chore since I didn't actually move much other than personal stuff because I continue to own and rent my condos in Sosua so it was decorating, furnishing and finishing the home as well.

My dad died just before his 93rd birthday. He wasn't taking any medications, was driving and working up until the day he died. He lived a great life and a very interesting life and rejoiced in it totally. He died the perfect death which to me was rapidly without pain, without laying in a hospital bed and happy as a lark.

I spoke with him the night before he died. He had dinner with my sister at friends of theirs and he was elated he didn't have to cook or clean:) He was a pisser up until the final day may he rest in peace!

I have no bad feelings about him nor his death. After my mother passed away about 8 years ago I had a lot of personal time with my dad. He told me then he was going to go quickly and not spend one day in a hospital. My mother spent 6 months in one before her death. We bought and paid for his funeral before my mother passed when we bought and paid for hers. We also did estate planning so there was no big deal other than his car at his death. Well planned for many years and no problems generally associated with this type of thing others worry about.

I have now fully moved in to the new home in Cabrera, have had my first Christmas/New Years holiday here and love the place. As you can see I am now not blogging from Sosualand anymore and have changed the introduction to the blog.

UPDATE Casa Cabrera, Dominican Republic

In this picture you can first see the carport on the right side of the house and the stone wall which is now about 5 ft high and surrounds the entire property. It was about 2.5 ft before. The property past the house is also part of this project. This picture is the inside of the back yard right side when facing the house and the landscaping and of course the higher wall to contain my killer German Shepherd puppy:) Below is the pool that is now entirely tiled. Solar Pool pump gets installed this coming week along with the Solar Hot water heater.

Bet you all never would have thunk I would live in a "GREEN" environmentally anyway house?

This is the work continuing on the left side of the house and hopefully weather permitting finished this week. This is the left side carport where the wall is going up as I type. To the right of the wall will be a Iron Gate for the carport which will be over 6ft. High. My German Shepherd will have the run of the entire property and keep strangers away and make them more interested in the neighbors than here. At 5.5 months old he is already very protective and scares the crap out of people already. This week I accomplished a lot of work on the house. .

Purchased the Steel Gates.

Purchased and had fitted the Granite Kitchen Counters.

Purchased 1 Kingsized and 2 queensized Simmons Maxipedics for the 3 bedrooms.

Contracted with a kitchen builder/Furniture Maker 3 platform beds and 6 Nightstand/Chests.

Purchased a Solar Hot Water Heater.

Purchased a Solar Pool Pump.

Painted the entire house.

Had 9 ceiling fans/light fixtures delivered and will be installed.

Purchased 12 other light fixtures and they will also be installed.

Purchased 27 ft of California type closet apparatus for master bedroom walkin closet.

Purchased 3.5 kilo inversor and 12 red trojan Batteries.

Purchased 2 9k btu a/c's for the lower bedrooms

Purchased 1 18k Btu a/c for Master Bedroom.

Purchased a Whirlpool stove/0ven 6 burner Stainless Steel

Purchased a GE 20.5 Cubic ft Refriderator.

Purchased a new Osterizer Commercial type Stainless blender

Moving right along. Hope to aquire Dining room furniture and Living room furniture this week along with pool and patio furniture.

Hope to aquire window and patio door treatments this week also.

US Politics

I am not much into Politics especially in the US since I have been living overseas for many years now but this election interests me.

Please don't mention this to anyone but I am a registered Democrat although I never ever voted a party line in my life but I HATED Hillary, I hated Bill and I will not be happy if Barack Hussein Obama gets elected.

The man has NOTHING going for himself other than 180 days in the Senate as the most liberal voting Senator there. He is NOT patriotic although I feel it is good to question government because that is the Democratic way but he is just not a person I would want as President in these times.

I have a 100$ bet with my buddy Herbert whom I believe sees most things the way I do but we severly disagree on this coming election. If I win I am going to cash this into Pesos and slap it on a bar in town and drink it down with him so I can rub it in the whole night.

Thursday we were at Banco Santo Cruz taking care of some of his business and while we were waiting for slow computers I said that McCain was going to name Palin as VP. He looks at me and says "that would bother me" meaning I think he fears for his hundred smackaroos.

Now she was mentioned earlier on as a possibility but I was positive she was going to get taken 1st because she will be a good second in command and because she will take Alaska for McCain for sure and take a lot of the disheartened Hillary voters who don't like Obama.

Now what I find amazing is that the Democrats are now saying she doesn't have the experience in Foreign Relations nor on the National Stage and she is young. How these dopes can even risk mentioning this is beyond me. She has more government experience than Obama, they are three years apart and although she may not be up to speed 100% now she is a fast learner, a bright woman and runs a good business so I am sure that she will be golden before the first term is completed. Obama if elected will have no where near the experience of McCain nor Palin.

I think this was a great move on McCains part for so many reasons I think my buddy Herbert should actually pay me tonight so we can go on our bender early! Poor Herbie, I have been forwarding him emails describing exactly how bad Mr Barrack Hussein Obama is for a month and a half now. I am going to punish him before and after the election.

Now Obama is putting on a platform against the Bush/McCain ticket but you know what, McCain RAN AGAINST Bush and not with him.

Obama didn't get a bounce at the polls during the convention which usually give a good bounce for both parties because Americans are starting to figure out he is just a hollow suit who speaks well. Last polls show McCain in the lead and I will bet he gets a bounce with the VP Pick.

As an Irish lad said how can Americans be so stupid. McCain is a nice old man, a certified war hero who spent 5.5 years in prison in the Hanoi Hilton, is married to a beautiful young wife who happens to own a beer distributorship~! Where is the choice in this election~? LOL

Ok sorry to bore you all with my thoughts and I know I haven't posted crap for a few weeks. I have decided to finish a house in Cabrera to move into and have been running around purchasing most of the things I need. We are tiling the pool, finish painting, installing split A/C's in all the bedrooms, Solar pool pump and solar hot water heater, an inversor system for back up electric, granite counters and raising the stone walls around the entire property.

I am sure there is a lot more but that is whats coming to mind right off the bat.

I am going to start commuting back and forth next week so I will start posting pictures of the progress. I am very excited and anxious to spend at least half my time in Cabrera in 45 days to 2 months as I have stated here for years.

Elvis Spotted in Sosua

Elvis has been living up on the Finca now for a week and man has he grown in just one short week. When Maria and I drove up to the finca and parked he was on the other side of the finca and this is what he looks like going somewhere in a hurry after we called him:)

Man I get the chills just looking at this 10 week old German Shepherd. He is perfect in structure and moves with grace and ease. I plan on showing him in Dog shows here in the DR and maybe finishing him and getting him his Dominican Republic Championship in the show ring. I have enquired but don't know if they have obedience trials here which he will be better suited for since I plan on training him to be a working dog. Here he is at ease after we have hung out for a hour or so. At first he can't get enough of us and demands attention. Today I bought a brush for him and went back late afternoon to brush him. He looked like he go sprayed by a porcupine he had so much crap all over him. I got most of it out but I need to do this every day in order to get and keep him real spiffy. When he saw Maria he was beside himself and couldn't give her enough greetings. That is the puppy in him and that is why he is at the finca now when I didn't plan to bring him up until he was a bit older. He refused to be left alone in the Condo and cried like a little baby. I also needed a break with my sprained ankle which was difficult handling a puppy with such a sore foot. So my gentleman farm country home is starting to come completely together. I have a German Shepherd to herd my goats and sheep. I have 21 goats and now 3 sheep with many pregnant. By the end of the year I should be over 30 animals. My crops are doing great and I eat off the finca every day. Today I brought back ochra, tomatoes, yuca, peanuts and squash. This is what life is all about. One day I will be living on the finca and probably only venture off when I need something.

6 week old Baby Goat is HUGE

My little big guy here is only 6 weeks old. He is already trying to reproduce and I think he is going to grow up to be a beauty. I am thinking about keeping him for stud along with the other one I bought a few months ago called Meme. They will both be very big and this guy will NOT have horns where Meme has the biggest horns I have seen in this country.

This is a picture of my little big guy with 3 other 2 other gals and one boy who are at least 6-8 months old. He is as big as these guys and the one to his left is pregnant. This is the largest fasted growing goat I have seen. I love the differences in color on all these guys. They are all individuals and distintive. . Hasta Pronto!

Mary(a) had a little lamb

This is the first lamb born on the finca. This stunning guy is 1 day old and have very unusual coloring. Notice he is white and tan with a black bellie and legs. Unusual markings on his face also. Leads me to believe that it is possible the father is unknown. He looks a little like bad piece and a little like Kevin. Hmmm, I have to check on this! LOL

I have had sheep for about 2 years and now have the first baby. When I first got the mother she was very little and the male I bought at the same time died 2 months after he was at the farm and I didn't get a new guy until I moved to the new finca. I was expecting 2 but only had one. Worse than that he is a boy and not a girl to reproduce. I will have to go out and buy a couple of more gals to increase my flock. Hopefully I have enough mothers between the sheep and the goats to have babies every month. I know I have at least 5 goats pregnant now so hopefully we will be in babies all the time now. This is Maria or Mary(a) with the baby. You can see other small goats in the background.

Ok guys lets hear all the sheep jokes you can come up with! Perhaps I HAVE'NT heard them all already:)

Takin a picture of the picture taker

If you have been downtown Sosua and seen a guy with a camera taking pictures and developing them with a small printer on the spot this is the guy. He always lets me take his picture which I do everytime I see him. I love taking pictures of the picture taker:)

My ankle is repairing from a sprain and I am now without cast, portable cast, ace bandage, crutches and cane. It still hurts after a few minutes and swells but it is getting better and better every day.

Elvis my new German Shepherd is doing great. He is up at the farm now and really enjoying himself. He torments the goats and when I went to feed them he tormented them more, so much so I had to pick him up and move him away from a nervous one so she could eat her Yuca top.

Last night I ate some fried Batata and Sausage I picked up at the butcher along with some squash. The batata and squash was from the farm and delicious!

Each day I take more and more home. In a few weeks I will have to sell my yuca crop. I have eaten some of it already and it is sweet as can be. I will make a few bucks on this for the first time. .

It is starting to rain occassionally instead of drought then flood. Way better for me up at the farm. It is also starting to get hot.

My sheep is going to give birth very soon and I have about 5 goats pregnant. My family is growing. I had a goat born 6 weeks ago and he is as big as a 6-7 month old and growing like crazy. Problem is that this guy is going to be agressive and is bravo already. Hope he doesn't get out of control or he goes to the butcher. He is a pretty guy and I would like to keep him for stud.

When I went up to the farm to drop Elvis off we did some shopping. I got a couple of large Squash, a big watermelon below and Peanuts. I know you don't know much about peanuts and either did I till I had them growing on my old finca that I sold but the peanuts grow under ground. You rip up the whole plant and pull the peanuts from the roots. You can roast them or eat them raw which is the way I like them.

Elvis is alive and living in Sosua Dominican Republic

As some of you know years ago I had a kennel in New Paltz NY and I bred German Shepherds and some Rotweilers. I also tried Dobermans and Akitas but didn't like or enjoy those breeds.

I have wanted a German Shepherd for the Finca and just bought one on Friday. I wanted to name him Malo which is bad in Spanish but Maria got all upset and said it was a terrible name for a Dog. I liked it because he is going to be a BAD BOY when I am finished with him.

He comes from very nice German and Eastern Europe working lines with Siegers and Shutzhunds in his back ground. He is a very beautiful 9 week old puppy and I absolutely love him.

So far he has been a struggle with my sprained ankle and Maria went to Nagua for 2 days to spend mothers day Dominican with her mother and son so I had to walk him 4 times with a bum foot.

He is everything I want in a Dog with the exception that he is a boy and I like gals better. No problem though it will work out perfectly and I will train him up and he will be a sight when people see him work.

My Sheps were Natural herders and even after generations of not working as herding dogs they did it perfectly on my farm in the states. This particular guy is a very intelligent fellow and will do great and all I need is a bit of patience till my ankle heals.

I took him up to the finca today and left him with my guy Danny. He will live in the servants quarters till my ankle repairs and then I will take him back home for socialization and training.

Black Ass, White Ass and Whiter Ass

These are 3 out of 5 friends of mine that were down in Sosua last weekend and a couple for a week. I met 3 of the 5 or 6 guys in Boca Chica when I was there hanging out with another buddy of mine. I told them Boca Chica is the pits and they have to come to the North Coast. Well that was in July and a few of these guys have been here no less than 5 times now and all at least 2x and they won't be returning to Boca Chica again.

I was having a great time with them but some of my buddies called for a Motorcycle ride which I couldn't turn down. We were up in the mountains going down a goat trail when it was real rutted from heavy rains. I was going only about 2 miles an hour and I couldn't negotiate the ruts and dropped the bike. Ended up spraining my ankle last Sunday and Monday ended up at a clinic for xrays. I stayed with the ride until it started swelling and then begged off to ice it.

The Doctor put me in a Cast and it was only supposed to stay on for 3 weeks. It was up to my knee and to pitch of my ankle in the cast put my left foot 16 inches in front of my body. Very Dominican and it meant it was impossible to walk with my bad foot 1.5 feet in front of my body.

I left it on for 3 days and took a wire cutter and started peeling it down. Two days later it was completely off my damn foot.

I had my friend Rellosk bring down a "Air Cast" which wasn't exactly the one I wanted but worked real well. Atheletes would wear this and play ball in it. It gets me around so its cool.

I had a sprained ankle before and it was much worse. Took me 2 years before I felt 100%. Thankfully this sprain isn't as bad.

This picture is Danny, me and my two new baby goats that were born today.

If you notice mine has white boots and his has black boots. One time when I had the restaurant he came in and tells me that we had baby goats and one was all black and one was all white and the other was black and white. My waiter Nelson who thinks he is a comedian says that I am the father of the white one and Danny is the father of the black one and both of us probably fathered the black and white one. It was pretty funny but Danny was denying it and we were all laughing.

The next picture is Maria and I holding the two babies. I don't know why I ended up with the black booted one this time:) This is a picture of the two of them on the ground. Real cuties and the two of them are colors I haven't had on the farm and I have never seen these colors before.

Next one schedualed to give birth is my Sheep. Yup folks I have heard all the jokes already. Yes I keep a pair of boots in my truck!

I posted pictures of a baby goat born on the farm less than a month ago. He is now as big as my 6 month old goats. I will see if I have a late photot of him now with the others.

Man this is fun. I love raising goats and it is so much fun just feeding these guys you wouldn't believe it. I supplement their food with tops of Yuca which they love. Must be full of vitamins and other good stuff because they go crazy for it.

Moscow Circus Playing in Puerto Plata

Timing is everything. Maria asked me if I wanted to go to the circus in Puerto Plata. I told her I wasn't a kid and left it at that. She speaks to her mother and she is going to Puerto Plata for a couple of days to see her family there and I suggested that she bring Maria's son Melvin with her and we can go to the circus together. Worked out great and Melvin stayed with us for 2nights and 3 days and we all went to the circus.

Melvin is 6 now and a great kid. I bought him a want that turned many colors. Kind of looked like a weapon from the space movies. We had Cotton Candy and other junk and had a great time.

Little did I know that this was the first time for both Melvin and Maria to see a circus. I guess some things I just take for granted and never would have imagined.

I bought the best seats and we had a ringside box which was great except for the High wire act where I had to strain my neck to see it.

It is still playing so I recommend if you can see it that it is well worth it.

Pirates in the Dominican Republic

I don't know why but there seems to be a thing with eye problems here. I know I had two problems with my eyes getting itchy and swolen and I had to take drops for it to clear up. Man it was awful! I even went to a Doctor believe it or not because it bothered me so much.

I got a call from my numero uno sister who was in the clinic in Puerto Plata and I went to pick her up. Hell she still looks lovely. She is going to kill me for posting this one:)

I was there tonight but without my camera unfortunately. . 2 beers for 99 peso happy hour and a food special for 99 pesos every night. El Tablon in Charamicos Sosua Dominican Republic

These are pictures taken of a section of Charamicos where the Dominicans live in Sosua. They have been given apartments to move to coutesy of the government so they can clean up a neighborhood that had a lot of problems.

Anytime you heard of a Shooting or Drug Raid this is where it was. The police were affraid to go down there although I wasn't. No one ever bothered me when I went there. The road ended where a river met the ocean and there was a fish store there. Only problem was if you asked for Tuna you got Red Snapper. Well all the people are moved and they bulldozed it as it was happening so no squatters got there first. It was a horrible place but the people that lived there miss it and don't like the new slum that was built for them. I will go to the new place and take pictures and post them here. It is very tight and crowded albeit NEW.

Oh well, guess this is something that had to be done! They are going to make a dock at the end for the fishermen and a park of some sort. They also need to clean up the river because of all the polution. The Dominicans who live upstream just throw their garbage in the river and it is killing the reef but they cant help the reef till they stop the problem which here is very difficult.

LADIES IN YELLOW

This was taken Saturday evening in my condo just before we went to dinner to celebrate the one on the left's birthday. Unfortunately the restaurant she choose which is the fairly new Italian Restaurant next to Bliss in Cabarete is now closed and for sale. We went there once before to celebrate something and had a nice meal but alas wasn't going to happen this time. We ended up having typical Dominican food at a restaurant that we have been to many times before and it was a great meal so it turned out ok anyway.

Afterwards we went downtown for a drink or two and I had a lovely night.

One time I took these sisters to the Butcher to buy some meat to cook up and as they were arguing back and forth about what to buy the Butcher says to me "They look exactly alike, they are so cute, I want them both". I couldn't help but laugh because that is exactly the thought that has gone through my mind many times in the past.

I have had friends who didn't know one think she was the other and mention my name so evidently many people think they look alike. One time we were at a restaurant where one of them worked and the other one and I were having drinks. The cook calls her to the kitchen to take food out thinking it was the other sister. Hilarious!

Saturday night dinner with my Sisters

Saturday night I had dinner with two of my lovely sisters. We ate at Baileys and then went out for a little bit. The one below had to work early in the morning so we weren't out for long but it was fun.

Afterwards we all went back to my house to go to sleep. It is fun having both gals over instead of just one. More fun when they are drunk but not this night! They are so pretty and love to get their pictures taken. I try to always have my camera with me! Not even a beer to their names and they are having the times of their lives!

Tomorrow night we are going out to dinner again to celebrate the older sisters birthday. I am looking forward to it already!

Fiesta De Herman

Well as always Herman throws a great party. It is great to get on Hermans "A" List for that reason! This excuse was the completion of his addition and improvements to his villa and that starts with this wall:) It doesn't end there though! Besides the wall in the front he built a office just off the kitchen which I didn't even see while I was there this time. I have only seen it unfinished.

Below is the Gazebo from the inside. It is a 3 level Gazebo with the first level being a studio apartment, the second level is below and in the other pictures which is a big living room and kitchen. Open windows to get the breeze and HUGE. There were 35 people inside at any given time.

These are musicians he had playing for most of the day. They were cool and people enjoyed them. Even some dancing! All this terrace area is brand new and a lot more I didn't photograph. I will have to stop back and take more pictures to post. This is herman with the pigs head. Hell that was just about all that was left after everyone devoured the rest of the guy. It was a great party and Herman did a fabulous job on the design and finish of the addition of Villa Macau. Anyone who gets to stay there will thoroughly enjoy themselves. This shot is of the next door neighbor where I am going to build. You can actually see where I have cleared to build my barn which will start this month. Also you can see where the house is going to be which is to right and just below the house in a clearing.

A few minutes at Linda and Dougs house in Sosua

Sunday afternoon I stopped after leaving Hermans Party I went over to Dougs house with Doug. Maria was taking the pictures.

When we walked into the house the doggies had already had their way with the toilet paper and the house was full of it:) It was a riot and Doug didn't even flinch so he must be used to it. I would hate to pay his Toilet paper bill every month! We were sitting outside and through the window they had this big painting and I didn't know if it was painted on the wall or not it was so big. Had to actually go in to make sure it wasn't. Below is their lap pool with a bumpout so others can be in the pool while someone is swimming laps. This is the type of pool I built in Cabrera in the bigger house. I don't know if I had mentioned this to them when they were talking about building their house but it is the same in principal as what I built. This is the toilet paper monster. He has a taste for the absurd:) They have a very nice home and it will be looking at my home when I finally get to building it. I can see my next door neighbors house from their pool deck and my property where my barn is going and where my house is going. I have a building up but it was hidden by the trees. Hasta Pronto!

Goats and Sheep have a new Gazebo in Sosua

I just got this completed this week. The frame is concrete and the roof is Cana taken from my Cana Palm Trees on the property.

Goats and Sheep don't like the rain and I haven't had shelter for them before but now they have some from the rain. It is 5 meters by 5 meters which is about 16x16 and I am willing to bet that during a heavy rain all of them will be under this.

Tomorrow we pour the roof on a 120o0 gallon cistern which is a water holding tank. We have community water but they only turn the pumps on 2-3 days a week so we need a lot of storage.

My friend has a pool that holds about half of that according to him so that is a lot of water. I am also pouring concrete collumns above it to build a cana roof there also.

This is the evergrowing project and I am trying to make this a place I will love in the future slowly now.

Trujillos Cars at Camp David

These are Trujillos cars on display at Camp David in Santiago. Trujillo was a dictator that ruled here until he was assasinated in the 60's. He was a vicious ruler but there was law and order then. Now it is like the wild west but I still like it for the most part. This was his son's Chevy. The next one is a Willy's that he rode around in. He was the chief of the Armed Forces. This was the boss's Caddy with me standing next to it. I know you will hardly notice the car with such a handsome and distinguished gentleman standing next to it:) Doug Hicks took this shot. I am not usually in my photos because I am the picture taker so here is a rare view of me! . We had a great day and Doug was a pleasure to ride with. He is a great rider and that made it a pleasure. We did a trip that would have taken me with the rest of the guys 3 days to do. . Doug use to be a Professional Hockey player and was said to be the reason Bobby Orr retired (joke out of dougs mouth). Doug was his last defense partner if my memory serves me right. Doug is still a athelete and does everything I can't do anymore and probably couldnt do it back then either:) I look forward to my next trip with him. . Hasta pronto!

Sunday Motorcycle Ride

This is my buddy Doug. Doug has been threatening to go riding with the rest of us for a while now. We finally made it on Sunday. This shot is where we stopped for lunch at a Hotel in Santiago called Camp David.

This is the view from the balcony where we ate lunch. I had a decent salad and a Ice COLD beer which was great after a half day HARD motorcycle ride. This day it was just Doug and I and it was better that way because we did a whole day affair and most of the other guys crap out in half a day. Usually from the bruising:) We started the trip at Pedro Garcia which is where I ended a trip another day with Will. We were close to cresting a mountain and a dark cloud came over and Will crapped out on me because he said he had a bald tire and didn't want to go down the hill in the rain or when it was wet. I told him I was going to hate myself for turning back because I needed to see the other side of that mountain. We were at a very high elevation and I needed to see what was just around the next corner but alas, I didn't because Will appled out. This time we went over the top and it was well worth the trip. This is a picture coming back down the other side of the mountain. Man this is such a cool country, I plan on seeing every freakin inch of it before I die.

There are times when we are so deep in the campo I feel like these people have never seen a white guy before. It is usually right after that that I see a white kid running out of a house:) It always surprises me!

This was on the other side right near the top of the mountain. Look at all those pine trees! Talk about elevation. We drove around every nook and cranny and we eventually got back to the road called the touristica which runs from Montellano to Santiago where we headed for lunch.

After lunch we went to the highway and took that to the airport and returned via the Moca - Sabeneta road which is another mountain pass similar to the touristica.

We stopped at the river in Jamao El Norte and I showed Doug where the mountain population in that area goes swimming and drinking and otherwise spending their Sunday. He never knew it existed.

We ended taking the El Choco Road from that road back to Sosua and of course stopped at the farm to see the goats and sheep. I also got to show Doug the construction since he has last been there and I think he also enjoyed that.

This is Fred who was one of the originators of Pedro McMurphys Irish Sports Bar in Sosua. They built it and sold it in 3 months. Successful plan!

Fred returned today to Vancover BC and we have had small going away parties for 2 days now for him. I will miss the guy for sure. He was immortalized on one of our Motorcycle rides when he crashed and burned. I didn't get to see it because I was helping another guy get up off the ground a 1/4 of a mile away at the time but when I got to Fred he was in the River washing off all the blood. He has the Scars to prove it:)

When I asked him if he was ok he smiled and said sure but he must have been one hurting puppy and sucked it up big time. Hats off to Fred and I for one hopes he returns SOON!

He has already threatened to buy a bike on his return and get back in the saddle! Great guy, lots of fun and will be missed! BYE FRED!

Little problem

Slight problem in our electrical room at the condo complex. Water pipe broke and flooded the room. Hope we don't have lasting damage from this. Water and electronics do not get along well. This pic was evidence for the insurance company. We dried everything out but had to turn off all electric to the complex when this happened. Very dangerous.

New cistern, new Pasture

This is the start of the building of a 12000 gallon water holding tank. It doesn't look that big now but when I take the next picture tomorrow you will think completely different. I have a friend who has a 6000 gallon swimming pool. This is bigger. The pictures below are pictures of my new animal pasture. I didn't even think when I originally bought this place that this land was mine but alas it is mine so I since I had to fence again I made a separate pasture so I can rotate the animals so I don't destroy what I have. The first day I put the kids here for the evening they all had swelled stomachs the next morning. They all were HUGE. I commented to Danny who works here full time for years that my goat named Perro who was pregnant and eating like a horse would gain 500 pounds in one night:) You can see these guys are healthy and looking great. Everyones FAT:) This is only about a little over a quarter of an acre but the ability to put them here for nights for a week helps the other field recover. . Hasta Pronto!

Papas got a new son

This young man was born between Saturday night and Sunday. I knew he was coming because the mama who I call Perro which means dog is one of my favorite goats. She is always healing when I am in the pasture. When I got to the finca on Saturday she got out of the new pasture and the workers building my cistern put her back in. When they told me this I went into the pasture to see her. She was trying to get out while I was there which was very unusual because she thinks she is a dog and she loves me.

Well I identified these actions as she was nesting. She had orginally fit her big ass body through the barbed wire into the next farm and then came back around to the old pasture where she had spent her whole time so I figured she was trying to nest in advance of giving birth. I took her back to her old pasture and left her there with plenty of food and water. On Sunday a bunch of us went up to Playa Grande to the beach so I asked Herbert to stop off at the farm first so I can check on her. She had this beautiful little boy waiting for me on my arrival and a real sweetheart he is. He is HUGE for a 1 day old or less baby goat. Mama is big and carried very big. I thought she was having at least two. This is going to be a big boy. All his mamas milk for himself and the start was amazing! . Welcome to the farm little guy. . Hasta Pronto!

Saturday night dinner

Saturday night we had dinner for about 8 people in my condo. In attendence were my friend Howard from NYC, my friend Herbert also from NYC, My friend Herman also from NYC, Boyd and Lannie from the outback of Canada, Maria and her brother Kiko and of course myself. There were supposed to be other people but they had other plans and couldn't make my last minute dinner. Maria made her famous San Cocho which in fact is actually a famous meal:) Herman made some sort of Vietnamese Spring Rolls and of course we had a ton of wine and port at the end. Everyone said they had a great meal which I certainly did and went home with full bellies. I have to thank Herman for the photos because the dope that I am didn't take any myself. Hasta Pronto!

Motorcycle ride LAST Sunday

Last Sunday a bunch of people bailed out of the motorcycle ride and I took this day which ended at noon with other people to take a trip that is longer than the others would have agreed to take. So after the last person finished at noon I headed out toward Luperon after a stop in Costambar. When I got to Luperon I hung a left along the cost on a road that was impassable the last time I was out there in my car and continued towards Nuevo Isabella where Columbus supposedly first stepped forth in the DR and the New World.

This is the beach there which I think had a view of Punta Rusia and I was going to head there but missed my turn. Punta Rusia is a real out of the way town way off the beaten track. There are NO titles to the land and only people trying to sell there are the cheap hustlers who are also foreigners. They are trying to sell properties that you may not ever own. Beautiful place and the prices are cheap but if you see a South African White woman trying to hustle you stay FAR away. This is the view from the beach to what I think is Punta Rucia on the other side of the bay. This is a picture of a river I was looking to cross and finally did about ten miles down the road. This country is so beautiful there is beauty everywhere you look and it is a classic picture 99% of the time. Hasta Pronto!

Baby got a pair of new shoes

After dinner one evening Maria and I went to see a friend of ours who she use to work with at Lous Shark Bar who now works at the Four Roses near the Europa Hotel. Thank Gawd she got rid of the big hair. I have been begging her to get rid of the fake hair that was woven in. She looked horrible. Now she is back to her real hair and beautiful again! It is hard for me to look at a beautiful woman who makes herself look bad ON PURPOSE. I had her sisters and brother making fun of how she looked. She was at my house yesterday and said "Manana en la Manana yo finito con me pelo". THANKS SO MUCH now I can look at you again!

Off Road Motorcycle Ride North Coast of Dominican Republic

This was Sunday afternoons Bike ride into the mountains. We had a late start and only left with 3 of us. a couple of hours later this is what we looked like. We went though Sosua Abajo and took back roads to Montellano and then ended up on the Touristica to Santiago.

About half way to Santiago we hung a right and took a dirt trail to about the top of the Mountain. We ended up with a nice crew of people.

Two retards came with gals. I couldn't believe these guys. Leave the women home on days like this although these gals were game for the worst riding I could imagine. One of these guys took a spill but no real damage that a couple of dollars of replacement parts couldnt fix.

One other guy took a spill on loose rock going downhill. This is the hardest part of off roading because it is difficult to stop when going down hill on loose stone. Also when you fall it really hurts when you get older or maybe I just don't remember pain when I was younger:) This morning when I saw him he was complaining about pain, no surprise really!

I make sure to go real slow going down hill and stay the hell away from everyone else. A few years ago I had someone stop and when I tried to avoid them I locked up the front wheel and dropped the bike. I was only going 4-6 mph but man it hurt for several days! When we travel I am usually the last one coming down and happy about it. I aint gonna let someone else cause me problems. I am planning on causing all of my own all by myself:) This was a very picturesque shot that I had to take. Man you can see forever. This was earlier in the day when I got a call from the rest of the crew who didn't make the start. We met somewhere and had a beer or two and carried on.

At the end myself and one other guy Will decided to do some more exploring and ended up in a real nice mountain town called Pedro Garcia. It was way high up and it kind of reminded me of Jarabacoa but smaller and cleaner. Roads were very steep and made of concrete. We decided that the mayor of this town should be the president of the country. Neat place.

We are going back this Sunday. We were on top of a mountain which must have been 50o0 ft high and we stopped to pee. Storm clouds came rolling in and Will wanted to turn back because he didn't have great tires. Reluctantly I said ok but I really wanted to see where it would take us. I am pretty sure we would have gone over the mountain and down the other side and hit other towns way back in the campo! Just getting to where we were was a chore. We even had a bull who was thinking about giving us some trouble and we had to sneak the guy both ways.

I want to go where no white man has ever gone before!! LOL

Rain or shine this is where we are going to go. Hope the weather clears up by then. We are supposed to get rain for a few more days and man has it been raining. My finca surely needed it and now stuff is growing like crazy!

Back to Pedro Garcia next week and we will see what we find. I am going to gas up in Montellano because I was really worried about getting out of the mountains without running out of gas. It was a long day and I had fumes when I filled up after.

Cutest little girl in the Dominican Republic

This is Disnalda who I have had the honor of sponsoring in both private English school and seperate English classes. She was about 7 years old when Dawn and I first decided to invest in her. She is now a young woman and just about the sweetest kid I have ever met. Her mom has been my house cleaner for about a year now so when Disnalda doesn't have school she comes along with her mom. For me this is such a treat to have her here. The other day she comes into the bedroom where I am laying in bed reading a book and first gives me a kiss hello and then tells me she would like to go swimming. Of course I said, change your clothes and we will go to the pool. We spent a few hours at the pool, her in it and me reading my book and then we went back in the house. She was having fun with her mom and when it was time to go she said she wants to stay:) What a sweetheart, she could have stayed forever as far as I was concerned.

Birthday Dinner Back in the DR con mi Sisters

I got back from Atlanta last Saturday after having to wait a few days for a seat. Nice thing about a buddy pass is that it is free but you have to wait for a seat if the plane is full.

Got back in time to have my birthday dinner with a couple of the "Sisters" and then had drinks with a third Sister at Pedro McMurphys. Had a great time as always! I love these sisters and enjoy spending time with them always. Top is Maria uno, Bottom is Maria Dos and below is mi Negra. Three of the finest people this island has to offer! And yes take out a camera and they all turn into Modelos!:) Siempre. Tonight I am going to Pedro's for a Steak dinner. This is the second time they are doing this. First time was great and I expect the same this time also. They get a HUNK of USDA Prime and cut it up and see how many meals they get out of it and then take only that amount of reservations. It is all sold out again but I got reservations for two and looking forward to my steak!

Hocky Game

Well this was a first for me. I went to a Hockey Game for the first time in my life. I never got into it and I still haven't. My cousin told me I had to go to a game to appreciate it and well I guess I didn't although I had a nice time with my buddy Bruce who is the pilot for Delta who got me a free ticket to get there and another buddy Dave who works now for AT&T Cellular and another friend of Daves. I am really a basketball fan and appreciate it much better. The day of the game I met a couple of the Atlanta Thrashers who were in the Shoe Store and I mentioned that I had a friend here in the DR who is a retired Puck Slinger. When I told them the name they said that they heard the name before but didn't know the guy. Poor Doug, you were forgotten:) Guess they weren't born when you played! LOL Sorry brother we are all getting old I guess. It was great to see you the other night. Hope you make a Sunday motorcycle trip with us! We are going tomorrow and meeting at Pedro McMurphys at 9am for Breakfast and then a backwoods mountain ride. Anyone is welcome to join us for a real nice time! I don't think I will be going back to a hockey game. Not a good spectator sport for me and since I can't skate worth a damn I guess this will just go down as a new experience never to be repeated:)

They are fairly well known because they sell shoes from Size 8 to Size 24 and all the big people come in because they have a selection of 300 different shoes in size 19. If you look at the picture below you will see that all the walls are lined with framed Jerseys that are signed by the respective ball players. The jerseys go back to the days that they were made of "JERSEY". Truly a spectacular place to just visit. Check out the who's who on the website and see everyone from OJ to Don King and everyone inbetween. I got myself a bunch of new shoes. Haven't been out of the country in about 1.5 years and my shoes were getting thin:)

Goat Farm in Sosua Dominican Republic

This is a picture of my new goat that I bought this week. A handsome lad he is. I first saw him while on my motorcycle in the Campo. This guy and the rest of his herd were HUGE. I went back three times to buy one and finally they sold this bad boy to me. Today when I was up at the Finca my guy Danny told me he already performed his job! Oh what a guy.

I don't know what type of goat he is but he is NOT native to this country. I sent two pictures to a woman in the US that Judges goats all over and I am awaiting her reply. He is bigger and has a set of horns that are much different. He has a large beard and longer ears also. His coat is finer than most of the goats I have seen.

Haha, I just noticed my finger in the photo. I used my camera phone to take these pictures.

I probably won't be blogging for a week or so. I am off to see family and shop for a week. It has been a year and a half since I left the country and my shoes are thin and my clothes threadbare:

These are shots I took with my Motorola RIZR which has a 2 megapix camera. Man they are pretty good shots and I am surprised as can be. Never would have thunk they would have come out this good!

I finally uploaded them to my computer so I can post it here. We had a great trip and after you keep on reading you will see a even better trip we took yesterday.

This first picture is out to the ocean where the city of Puerto Plata looks like a little blip in the dirt. At the waters edge is the Malecon where we ended up that day. . The second picture you are looking at the Puerto Plata Airport which is actually in Sosua. They you see Sosua Bay and all the way to Cabarete. Nice trip for sure and something the guys that have been here for the first time will remember forever! . Hasta Pronto!

Another Escott North Coast Dominican Republic Road Trip

This is Fred showing off his War Wounds while we stopped at the river in Jamao for beers. Take a look at his pants which probably has a quart of blood:) This guy is my hero. He takes a lickin and keeps on tickin! No one bounces back faster and better than Fred!

Perhaps it would be good advice not to go into Pedro's till he stops bleeding though:)

Well yesterday was Sunday and we did another off the wall road trip on dirt bikes. Pictured Below in foreground is Fred who you read about last week. In the background to the right is Dave and the left is Ted. Ted and another fellow Garth joined us this time so we were a bigger party this time. Difference is more people comes more injuries. I was at the rear of the pack after stopping to chat with a cab driver back in the campo who recognized me from when I owned the restaurant in the Hotel Europa. He was back in the campo with his cows when we were asking for directions and had to turn around and head back after speaking with him.

By the time I caught up with everybody or at least the first body he was on the ground after laying down the bike. I stopped of course to make sure all was well and to help straighten out a few things.

Dave was a little shaken up but got up and walked it off and was fine. I am sure he will have a stiff knee today but otherwise ok. Today we go shopping for a tail light lens. .

After we caught up with the rest of the guys Fred above hit a ditch and went flying over the handlebars. When I first saw him he was in a river washing himself off. I asked him if he was ok because he looked torn up a bit and he had this big old smile on his face and said of course! It wasn't until later that I saw all the damage from the fall and I said, "Fred you must have sucked that up because you had to have been in pain" and he finally admitted it.

I called him last night to see how he was but he didn't answer the phone. I will see him this morning.

This trip was a bigger trip than last weeks trip and it was a lot of fun again.

We crossed about 6 rivers and when we got to the last one I tried to cross it and got stuck in the middle with water up to my ass. Had to push the SOB out and then it took some help to get started on the other side but it started and ran fine the rest of the way home.

Tony the Tiger was also with us but for some reason his bike lost the transmission and he went back in the back of a pick up truck. Reminded me of the old days with the Harley either in milk crates or in the back of the Pick up Truck:)

What did all this teach us after the trip I bet you are wondering?

Do not go into the motorcycle rental business because it just doesn't pay!:)

The only thing I am sorry about is that I won't be on next weeks trip because I will be out of town and I miss the new places and hanging with the boys already!

This Orange is for Ben and Majorie

Ben and Majorie own a nice piece of property in the same community I have my little finca in. When I went to walk their property with them one time it was real overgrown and I just wasn't into slogging through the crap to see it. We decided I would get it cleared for them with the day workers I have been using myself and the property is all cleared and pretty now. This is a picture of one of their orange trees with an orange. It was such a beautiful looking orange I decided to eat it! Thanks Ben and Marjorie for this nice piece of fruit. It was so good I went back the next day to get me a couple of others which also were great!

Come home soon before I eat all your fruit:) Actually they are coming home in a couple of weeks and I look forward to seeing them again!

I now know where they got that expression "Those Crazy Canadians". Man I got this and a few other pictures from some friends from Canada who are trying to get a trip arranged back home to Sosua to get out of this crap!

Usually when people tell me about the weather in the states I just look at them and ask, "Do I look like I give a crap?" I mean I really don't. For me to ever see snow again someone has to die first because that is the only thing that will get me on a plane back to the cold!

I would love to offer this guy a Cold Beer when he returns but the only thing I can think of to offer is a nice San Cocho:) Ya know think something warm! . I offered these guys a ride from the airport but their plane doesn't get in until 1:20am and I will be 3 sheets to the wind by that time. . Hasta pronto!

Dirt Bike Excursion in Puerto Plata, Dom. Rep.

Sunday I did a full day excursion with the boys from Pedro McMurphy's. We started out having breakfast in Sosua and headed to Puerto Plata.

We first turned off the highway at the Sugar Cane fields in Montellano and cruised around on the Cane roads for about 15 minutes. Once we got out of the cane we were back at the highway past Fun City on the road to Munoz which is a bario near Puerto Plata and is probably part of Puerto Plata.

Will (BoneBreaker) who is one of the partners use to be an owner of Outback Safari and had pretty good knowledge of that area. We caught some nice ocean vistas. Ended up stopping for some food and beer in a small tipico right next to the cane fields in the middle of nowhere. After the meal/beers there was a field in front where some of the guys were popping wheelies and tearing it up. Tony (the Tiger) pops a wheelie that was a little too strong for him and his bike and it ended up on its taillight with him chasing it. To his credit he didn't get hurt and do much damage other than losing the taillight housing to the field. We picked it up and stuck it in a back pack and had it reattached the next morning so no loss. Tony from this day forward is always going to be Tony the Tiger to me for that Mastercard moment:)

Below is my bike and Jackie quontees bike sitting together before we did a road trip to Jarabacoa around New Years. The only thing better looking than a picture of my TW200 is two of them! Great bikes with FAT tires, Low gearing and of course the Jap reliability that really handle the crap roads here without a problem. As we started heading back I suggested going up the back end of Mt Isabella. This is where the cable car trip leads to "Teleferrico". Some of the guys started bitching because it looked far away from where we were but alas everyone agreed and we started on our Journey.

We were 5 people. Will (BoneBreaker) owns a Yamaha 600 Dirt/Street bike, I own a Yamaha TW200 Dirt/Street bike and Tony the Tiger rented a 125 Yamaha Dirt Bike, Fred (Layemdown) and Dave (The Hippie Confidant) rented 125 Chinese Dirt/Street bikes.

We made the turn off on the Sosua side of Star Hills and headed up the rear end of Mt Isabella. It is at best considered a service road in very poor shape. It was actually in better shape than I remembered the last time I did this same trip several years ago. Very steep with lose rock at different points. I told the guys low gear and keep the gas going. Stop and it is difficult to get going again in an upward direction. Hell it is difficult not to have your bike slide down the hill even with the brakes locked. Hence Layemdown Fred.

Somehow when I got 3/4 of the way up the hill he was layed down. I pull over as far as I can to let two behind me get by so we don't all have a problem. Well Dave (The Hippie confidant) gets by but Tony (The Tiger) ends up stopping and getting twisted a bit. Took a little bit for him to get going again but he did. Will (The Ranger) comes back down and since Fred (Layemdown) couldn't get his bike going Will is going to help.

At this point I figure there are too many cooks so I head back up the hill to join the rest at the top. A few minutes later Will and Fred get up to the top.

We lost Tony and Dave who went off on their own to do some Exploring so we headed to the monument which has an Awesome view of the world. We could actually see the whole of Puerto Plata, the airport, the bay of Sosua and all the way to Cabarete. Best view in town. I have some pictures in my cellphone and will upload them soon and post them.

After hanging out on top of the world for about 45 minutes we head down the hill. Last time I got too close to someone going down and they stopped their bike in the middle of the decent on lose stone. I dropped my bike because I couldnt stop without locking up both brakes and sliding down so I was very careful on the way down this time giving hundreds of feet to the person in front.

Everyone ends up passing me but I couldn't care less. I didn't want to drop this bike again.

After we get to the bottom we continue on the road to the principle highway past El Cupey and headed for the Malecon. Fred and I ended up solo at the Malecon so I gave him the tour of the Fort, Columbus's Light house and the Malecon. Carneval had just ended but we went to a Sports Bar in the middle for more beers and watching beautiful women. COOL!

. Dave and Tony catch up to us at the bar and we hung for a while before starting on the road back home for the evening. After making a few more beer stops we ended up back in town agreeing to meet in the morning for breakfast and to get the rental bikes repaired.

I had a great day with Great guys that I hope to repeat soon and often but to do different trips. I do these trips on my own several times a week on my bike so I have lots to show most of these guys. Will has probably seen as much as me so I don't know how much I will have to show him but we will see.

Stop in and see these guys at Pedro McMurphys when you are in Sosua. Take a good laugh at their expense. They have a great sense of humor and will enjoy the ribbing.

Small Sosua Farm & Condo Update

This is a picture of my condo complex. It is a little distorted because they somehow get it all in one picture by melding them together. Shows the whole complex but isn't 100% real but cool anyway.

Boyd this pics for you:) Boyd is coming down again sometime in April and is possibly interested in staying at my condo that I rent out. This is a picture I took from the roof of an old neighbor of mines home in Los Ceros. Pretty freakin awesome view isn't it? . Work goes on at the farm. I just ordered 10 custom made thingys made out of rebar for my tomato plants. They have three pieces welded to 2 20" round rebar so the plant grows inside of them. That way I will never lose tomatoes to rotting from laying on the ground. I have staked the hell out of them and I still get loss. I made these in the states and it made me famous for growing Tons of tomatoes and I only had 4 then. . Right now I am taking out about 4 lbs a day of one variety and 2 lbs of another. With these helpers I will have MUCHO MAS. I will get 50 to 100 lbs a day with these bad boys in two months. . I use to give out bags of tomatoes to my customers that came to my office and use to freeze tons of tomato sauce. . I have peanuts coming up now also. Great fun and great to eat. Did this several years ago and it was great! Corn is ready to harvest real soon also. Probably have 200 ears going to be ready in the next 2 weeks. Planted another 200 hundred plus recently also. I have baby melons by the bushell now so in another month I will be in the melon business also:) . Nice thing about farming is the almost immediate gradification. I have been planting so much every day it is unbelieveable. Amazed me when I had a small garden in the states and now I have a gigantic garden! . I will have one thing after another. I have Chinola vines growing like crazy and that should be a huge crop sometime in the future. Maybe this is a good use of my lot on the principle highway that I have. When I return from my upcoming trip to the states I will bring a crew of Haitians to clean that lot up for me so I can take a good look at it. There is a ton of Yautia which is a root vegetable growing there along with bananas and Plantano already so maybe I will farm right there also at some point. . Who knows but it is nice to dream about things! . Hasta Pronto!

My Condo in Sosua on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic

This is a picture of the Living Room, and dining area of the condo I rent out. It is 600 US a week plus metered electric. It has everything I would want in my own home including artwork.

It also has 2 bedrooms and 2 full Bathrooms and everything you would expect in an upscale vacation condo in the Caribbean. This picture below is the front of the building that I just got in email from Ken who is the President of our condo association. It shows both our new gates in the front for security and my 2 motorcycles which of course is more important:) El Neptuno in my opinion is one of the nicer complexes on the North Coast and run better than any other I am familiar with. We have completely upgraded the entire complex in the last 4 years and you can see the differences and if you are living here enjoy the hell out of them!

My comments in the last entry were just to set the record straight. It doesn't bother me in the least and I just wanted to tell some people that I don't have to be politically correct in their views, just in my own and my view is all that counts to me.

I have no one to please these days other than myself. I don't have a business here where I need to have anyones business and stupid comments couldn't hurt me in the slightest. It actually gave me great pleasure to tell them to "Go fuck yourselves":)

I was at Pedro McMurphys tonight for dinner. They did a Dominican Specialty Chivo Picante which is hot and spicy Goat. It was very well done and very reasonable in price (250 Pesos) and the only objection I had was the carrots which by the way were delicious but they weren't Dominican in Nature.

. I am very much looking forward to their next try at a Dominican Special "San Cocho" which is the National Dish of the Dominican Republic. I told Fred that if he doesn't get that perfect (which he should since he has Dominican Cooks) I would send in my girlfriend who does a WICKED San Cocho!

While I was having dinner a fellow walked over and introduced himself to me. He was actually a big bidder on the last Charity Auction I did to raise money for Kids Causes. He said "I hope you won't find this strange but my wife and I read your blog and I recognized you from your photos and I just wanted to say hi". Of course I didnt find it strange and it was real nice to meet him. He and his wife spent a lot of money on bids for our auction and It was a pleasure to put a face to the name!

Just so you know I couldn't have been any happier than when you came over!! Sorry I didn't get a chance to speak with you more but when I finished my dinner you had already left. Please get in touch with me next time you plan a trip and it would be my pleasure to take you up to the finca!

Servants Quarters

I had a one person object to my use of the phrase "Servants Quarters" both here and on a message board I post on. I just want to take this opportunity to tell them to "Fuck themselves". You can say what you please and I will say what I please and how I please and when I please and I don't give a crap if you think it is not politically correct. I also had an asshole object to me saying I had 4 Haitians working for me and if you don't like that you can "Fuck yourself" also. I don't have to please a single person other than myself these days and I don't plan to. Who the hell do you think you are even to bring that dumb shit up?

I have had many people work for me over the years and with very few exceptions I don't think that there is anyone who wouldn't jump at the chance to work for me again who I didn't fire for cause.

I just wanted to get that off my chest. I somehow lost my neat Cannon Camera and that is why I haven't posted lately but I can assure you that my Finca is coming along great. I just today planted a TON of Juan Duli, Peanuts, corn and believe it or not Lentils. I tried to purchase 4 Sheep today from two different people but they thought that because my skin was white I wanted to pay much more than the animals were worth. Stupid people didn't have a sale because they try to take advantage.

Yesterday I went to a fruit and vegetable market and the same crap happened to my girlfriend because I was with her. We bought a lot but a few places thought they were going to get more than the SuperMarket in Sosua for their crap because my skin was white. Of course my girlfriend didn't buy the crap from these people and the idiots didn't make "ANY" money from me. Bunch of crooks for sure. Now for the idiots that made or tried to make comments that is what I call discrimination and Haitian Workers and Servants Quarters is NOT.

Back on the Farm in Sosua Dominican Republic

Nope, work has not stopped at the finca. We keep marching on. What you are looking at is a cistern which is used to store water. Although we have community water at the finca the pumps are not running all the time and not even every day. Rules state that you need a minimum of 10000 Gallon storage of water and that is what we are digging at this time. If you don't know how much water 10000 gallons is I have a friend with a 6000 gallon pool. The first 12 or so inches is Black earth which is great for growing plants, fruits and veggies. The white stuff is soft stone when compacted is almost as hard as concrete and makes a great base for roads and driveways. Since I am taking this all out of the ground and will replace it with water I am using the materiel for road bed along with all the rock I took out when planting my veggies and fruits. the stuff on the right is easy to dig up. The stuff on the left is way more difficult. It comes out with a Pic Axe and Shovel. It is less expensive to use Haitian Labor than to pay for the diesel in a Excavator believe it or not but just not as fast. Things take a long time to get done here because of this. This is going to be the entrance to the farm. I have frontage on the principle road but kept that all flowers and stone walls. Didn't want to ruin the beauty with a road going down the middle.

BTW my servants quarters/storage building is complete. Doors and windows are in and the only thing left are the tile ridges on the roof but all the roof tiles are in. .

I have a TON of veggies almost ready now. Many different tomatoes, Yuca, Batata, melons, Passion fruit Chinola, cucumbers, squash, aloe, carrots, Noni and much much more!!! Looking good, looking good!

I think the new finca is actually more impressive than the old one. I like it a whole lot more and so do the animals. I am pretty sure I have two pregnant goats and a pregnant sheep also. Have I mentioned that I love kids:) The ones I have are growing every day and looking great!

I had to tie up the black female when I take her out of the pasture because she attempted to eat all my Yuca on her own. The other two babies are now restricted to the pasture for the same reasons. They love my Yuca and so do I:)

The comments have been picking up but I would love to hear more from you all. Tell me what you think and if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them.

Superbowl Sunday on the North Coast in Sosua, Dominican Republic

Say Hi to a friend of mine Jeff. Jeff is from Boston where he and his family own a few furniture stores. We have a lot in comon because I use to own a bunch of furniture stores.

Jeff walks into Pedro McMurphy's where I am sitting to watch the Superbowl. I had a reserved table which was the best seat in the house. Jeff sits down next to this beautiful woman and thinks he stepped in the Preverbial "Shit". Little did he know that she was one of the owners girlfriends who was sitting with us. Poor Jeff, you had to see his face when I told him:) Deflation happened immediately when he realized that he was just going to have a great game to watch and no after game activities with this beauty! LOL First wrong thing Jeff did was to wear a Patriot T-shirt at this Superbowl Party. He got razed as soon as he walked in the door. POOR SOB thought he had this game and it was already over. If I could bundle his looks thoughout the game and his disappointment at the greatest upset of Superbowl history it would have been my pleasure. Even if the Giants had lost the game it would have gone down as one of the best games I have ever seen! See the guy taking the picture, his name is Tony and he is one of the owners of Pedro McMurphy's and the boyfriend and Heartbreaker of Jeff! LOL I always like taking pictures of the picture takers. He was trying to record the full house that they had. Standing room only but what do you expect when you have cold beer, 4 tv's, good food and of course beautiful women working there! This is one of the sisters who came to watch the game with me. She left me to go and watch the Caribbean Baseball Series instead of the Superbowl with me. Her team won that night and she was almost as happy as I was when the Giants fooled the world. This is Soleni one of the beauties that work in Pedro McMurphy's. She is NOT a sister of course but is beautiful and sweet as all the employees are! Just another reason to visit Pedros and say hi to the gals! Of course the sister hams it up for the camera. Actually all Dominican women love getting their photos taken. Try that in the US and you will probably end up with your camera broken and arrested:) I love this place and the attitudes of the women. Open and friendly with great smiles always and man you got to see them dance. You will be standing with your eyes bulging and your tongue down to the floor! . We all had a great time at Pedros, the place was ROCKING all night and the GIANTS won. Poor Jeff. Lost the game and the woman and his dog will never return~! Jejejejeje . Friday I have Eduardo coming to town along with two high school buddies of mine who I have remained friends with. Both are attorneys and one is with one of the most prestiges ones in NYC. . The other is a practitioner in New Haven and does mostly deals and closing for one of the major banks. . The one that works in NY is a bit up tight and I cant even tell lawyer jokes around him. Man that limits my flow:) The other you can't phase if you hit him with a taser. . I am anxiously waiting their take on the Dominican Republic. Frankly I have no idea what it will be but I am very much looking forward to them coming on Friday. . Thursday my buddy Earl is coming down from NY also. This will be a tough Juggling act with everyone in town at the same time. If I still had the restaurant I would just put them all at the same table and enjoy the hell out of every one of them but I don't miss the restaurant. . Hasta Pronto!

Bens and Marjorie's Property in Sosua

Ben and Marjorie are a couple of very nice people that I don't spend enough time with. Every time I see them I enjoy myself and of course learn something I didn't know before. They have property nearby my new finca and I have been working on cleaning it up. I have had 4 Haitians working there for nearly two weeks now and it is starting to take shape.

Most people just slash the overgrowth down but in 3 weeks it is back to haunt you. I dig the crap out by the roots which is time consuming and way more expensive but this lasts a heck of a lot longer and I am talking in terms of years not weeks.

After we dig up what we don't want and keep what we do want we burn the digging off. The burn pile is also becoming a fertilizer pile and everytime I have planted in a burn pile I get supersized stuff out of it.

My Farm in Sosua Dominican Republic

Did you say tomato? I have 4 different varieties. All that rain we had did wonders for the Tomatoes. Seems as if they just sucked up the water and blew up. I will have more tomatoes than I can eat also. Perhaps I will have a small farm stand on the property I own on the Highway. Sell fruits, vegatables and plants. I have quite a stock building up now!!

I have Tomatoes for Salads and tomatoes to make sauce out of. Whooo Hooo! Man I love this stuff! I have many vines of Passion Fruit growing now also. Chinola is the name of the fruit. I also have a large fruit tree in fruit called Carmito. Don't know what it tastes like yet. Had one tree at the other property but never got fruit. Give me a few weeks and I will soon know. Growing stuff is so easy on the new property. Prices of food went up around Christmas time and never retreated. They said it was the storm that did it but it is just high prices I think. Good for me now that I have so much growing!! Now for the first time I can see making a living as a farmer. Before I couldn't but this property is so bountiful that I believe it would pay. What more can you ask for in life? Doing something you both enjoy and can be profitable. I even believe I can make money raising Goats and Sheep. My girlfriend is reading over my shoulder and answered the first question "SEXO". Funny but true.

OK folks the Farm is progressing. Not only beautiful flowers but great fruits and Veggies! Just look below at the rows of Yuca and inbetween look at my Plantano and Bananas. This dirt is fabulous! Way better than my other finca.s I have so much growing now it is unbelievable. My first harvest of Yuca is going to be HUGE and I will probably sell a lot because it would be impossible to eat it all. Yuca you eat the root and the tops get planted back in the ground for more Yuca. The leaves are eaten by the goats and sheep and rich in vitamins and minerals. That is why the one goat I ate was so delicious.

I just got this in email today from a friend from NY. He was walking by the new Irish Pub Pedro McClusky's and saw the gal on the Left who just happens to be one of my 4 sisters and said "do you know Scott" and she replies "of course".Just looking at these beautiful gals is a good reason to go to Pedro McCluskys in Sosua. Cold drinks, good food and beautiful women!

I was out with my friend Ben the other day and while taking him home I saw another friend Sam sitting out in front of his condo. I dropped Ben off who lives in the next condo complex and went to chat with Sam. Sam tells me that he was in Pedro McCluskys in Sosua and was staring at Maria the gal on the left because he couldn't figure out who she was but he knew her. Well Sam finally figured out that he knew her from her many pictures here on my blog and he was laughing about it and saying "Maria was probably wondering who the dirty old man was who kept staring at her:)"

While talking with Sam another friend Doug pulls over to chat and catch up. Funny thing is Doug was on his way over to pick up Ben:)

Well it isn't done but I finally got my windows in. Next week come the doors. This is a very nice place by Dominican Standards! It will have a bath and a kitchen with two ceiling fans and tinted windows with screens.

It has a concrete wrap around walkway and I will build a deck on the right side which will have a huge cistern underneath it starting next week.

Escotts Finca and Gardens Sosua, Dominican Republic

These are some pictures I took of the front of my mini finca up in El Choco today. I have over 300 plants parked just in the 30 foot by xxx foot front of the property already in the ground. Give this 6 months and it will absolutely amaze you with a bonanza of colors! I am taking my Gynochologist up to my favorite vivero next week to go plant shopping and I will probably buy another load of beauties along with him. This vivero (Nursary) is the nicest with the best selection in the entire country. When I was there last week I could have literally spent 50 thousand US dollars on plants but I held back and just bought 225 for the front of the finca.

There was a palm tree there that was about 3 hundred dollars which I never saw before and I will buy that one this week when I return. Screw money, you cant take it with you. This palm tree looked like it had leaves like a shaggy dog and man was it different. I probably have already 300 Palm trees on the farm but I want different ones and I will get them slowly starting next week.

Everyone I take to the farm is impressed by the amount that I have done since October and I am impressed myself but this time I decided to do it hard and fast and cost be damned. I spend about 25% of my life here and why not enjoy it to the max?! When my buddy was interested in the land next door to my lot the developer came to the property to explain the property lines. He said "You sure built a lot of wall for just goats" and I said "But I like my goats":) You can see how happy they are when you come to the finca and they come to where the people are to hang out with you. Heck I have one goat that thinks she is a Darn Dog. When I am in the pasture she actually heals. I walk 5 steps and so does she. It is a lot of fun hanging out here. You can see my vegatables coming up and growing! I just think this is the coolest thing in the world and love the immediate gradification I get from this. I already have fruits and veggies that I have planted in the ground in the last 3 months. .

Pedro McClusky's Bar and Grill in Sosua

Yesterday I spent the day at this new bar and grill in Sosua from 3pm till about 11pm. Man did you see those NY Giants? They were up, they were down, my emotions were about to crash before the game ended! I wanted them to win of course but I was especially happy that they had all the post season games and extended my season this year. When they won I just couldn't believe we were going to the SuperBowl after all these years!

WOO-Hoo! This picture was not taken yesterday but a week or so ago. One of my 4 sisters works here so I frequent the place as often as I can! Got to support my sisters ya know.

Neither of these gals are one of my sisters who work there. She was wearing a skirt that day and wouldn't consider getting up on a bar but let me tell you she can move that bottom like there is an engine inside of it! The gals dancing are very cute and as you can see have great bodies but I luv my sisters@+!

The place was off the wall CRAZY with people. I saw the UGLY New Yorker sitting right in front of me and now I know why they are called that! LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS. If I wasn't such a peaceful guy I would have liked to pop him over the head with a empty bottle of beer. Who wants to waste the suds!

I had a great time watching football yesterday as I had many friends in town who came to the bar to watch also. They have very good bar food and yesterday I had a Blue Cheese Hamberger which tasted wonderful.

Sosua Dominican Republic Finca

These are just some of the 220 new plantings I did at my finca in the last 2 days. I went up to Abreu which is near Cabrera on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic to the best Vivero called Cafe Flor and bought a truckload of plants to plant just at the front of my property on the main road. I will take more pictures tomorrow and post them but this entrance to my property is looking real sweet now. I have had neighbors stop to look and neighbors tell me how nice it is coming which is nice considering that Haciendas El Choco the most exclusive upscale gated community in Sosua and probably one of the nicest in the entire Caribbean. There are Helicopters landing here often and I have only been there since October. This is only a group of 5 plants out of 22o that I just planted in the last 2 days. I had over 100 already planted before I purchased these. I grouped them in bunches so when you see the flowers they are eye stoppers. There are so many planted here already I believe in 6 months the front of the property will be quite the showplace. . I will post more pictures tomorrow and also pictures of the small house I built there. Windows are coming this week and doors next week and I should be finished some time next week with the small house. Took long enough with all the rain! I thought I would NEVER get the small house done. . Hasta Pronto!

These are plants I just transplanted from the front of my farm which is located in Haciendas El Choco in Sosua. They were real crowded and took up too much of my front so I moved them around on a couple of walls where they look better and I can plant many more flowering plants in the front. These stone walls are pastures for my animals and topped with barbed wire to keep the kids inside and not wondering.

Kids feel at home in New Finca

For those new to my blog these are pictures of my new finca located in the gated community of "Haciendas El Choco" in Sosua, Dominican Republic.

Below you will see some of my animals in their new Pasture. I stone walled it in and put barbed wire on top to keep them inside. If they ever got out and roamed the neighborhood my neighbors would hate me. Goats eat everything and the sheep would be almost impossible to catch and return here as they are very skiddish although getting a bit more comfortable with having people around them more now.

These are a few of my kids with their mother. I love having the kids here! They are always a whole lot of fun to watch. Soon I will always have kids around as I now have 5 females goats and one sheep and hopefully will add two more female sheep today. This guy above is my new boy sheep. A handsome looking lad he is. I hope he reproduces equal to himself! He has an interest in the goats in season for some reason but don't think the other guys are going to let him in their henhouse:) More of my goats above and they are doing just great here on the new finca. They are growing much faster and really seem to be enjoying their lives here. . Hasta Pronto!

First new build on Finca

This is the first construction on my new finca. It is plumbed for a kitchen and a bath but will be used for storage for now until I get the next construction up. I needed to finish a building quicker than the bigger one and decided to do this one first because it is smaller and quicker. The fellow in this picture is a laborer just doing the primer inside.

The next picture is of the same home with Daniel in the picture who has worked for me for years first in the other finca which I sold. Since I moved the animals over Daniel has been working here which has been a great help. He is very knowledgeable and a good guy. Hopefully the windows and door will be installed next week. I paid for them yesterday. I am getting Bronze color frames and glass tinted bronze also. There will be a grid pattern in the windows and screens in all.

Doors will be brown as well. Havent picked out the paint colors yet but will do this Monday. Woo hoo finally getting completion.

Property Update

Well no pictures at this moment but the property is coming along great. I have my 4 Haitians working again now after their Holiday Vacation and my Gardener from my other finca is now here also since we moved the animals over before Christmas.

I found out that I had purchased about 1200 m2 more than I thought I had. There was some sort of land swap between the developer and the landowner before me I wasn't aware of and when my buddy Herbert was negotiating on the property next to mine I found out about it from the developer who owns half the lot that Herbert was interested in.

Since I had already fenced in the property I thought was mine I then fenced in the additional property and will purchase a couple of cows now to put there. I am also planting a special grass that grows amazingly. 4 inches a day. The cows I will be buying will be about 150 pounds each but when they get bigger they may consume as much as 60 pounds of feed a day which is impossible on 1200 m2 of land.

I now move the goats out of the pasture during the day to graze and mow my other grass. For the first hour or two they eat non stop and then lay down. I don't bother taking the Sheep out because they are freaky deaky and you cant grab ahold of them. Perhaps that will change when the sheep has babies because I plan on handling the children so she will probably have to warm up by then.

I am going to buy 2 more female sheep this week hopefully. I have one boy and don't need more so this works great for me. I would also like to purchase more female goats. I have two baby gals now so in a year they will be reproducing also. I have 3 females reproducing now and in a year 5 but I want more! When I have 10 female goats combined with 3 female sheep I will always have babies on the way or happening.

The prices of vegetables have gone through the roof. First becaus of Navidad and then because of the storms. This is also good for me. I have so much planted now it is unbelievable. I have 3 varieties of Tomatos, over 5000 Yuca plants, corn, beans, squash, melons, eggplant, sweet potato, chinola, toyota, cucumber, carrots, onions, oranges both sweet and juice, Limon, avocado, Mango, Cherries, Cashew, Juan Duli, Ocra, Spices, Aloe, limoncillo, Mallonnon , Grapefruit and more.

Perhaps I will sell off some stuff in a few months. Even I can't eat 5000 yuca planted at the same time.

Today and yesterday we cleaned up the front of the property. Took down the barbed wire moved all the plantings to the back of the property and so far planted an additional 95 plants for color and still not finished! It looks awesome and even the security guards are commenting.

This is the road my new finca is located on. As a matter of fact I am just out of eyesight on the left side of the road. The trees that have the red flowers are called Flamboyan. Makes for a beautiful entrance to the finca!

To the right you can get a small look at the tennis courts of the community. There is also free Horseback Riding for the owners at the stables on the property.

This place was originally set up as a place for Gentlemen Farmers which is the class I belong in. It actually turned into a place for Mansions instead which is ok with me. When I thought I wouldn't exactly fit in I learned that I am the type of person this was meant for:)

This is a picture of what my new Finca looked like when I purchased it. The three plants you see in front of the fence were the first 3 I planted way back on Oct. 6th.

I sent this to my buddy Herbert who is/was interested in purchasing the finca next door to my property to show him it wasn't all groomed as it is now when I bought it. I haven't posted in the blog for about a month because there was a problem uploading pictures and was about to give up on the blog but alas it is back to working now!

More to come shortly now that I can put my pictures up! I have a small building up and Roof tiles being installed now. Don't know when it will get finished with all the rain we are having now but hopefully we will catch a break and I will get done.

The hole between where the stone walls meet is where my new barn goes. The first stage of the Wall building is over and the whole front 2/3rds of the property has stone walls.

I was going to build the barn first and then my home but the problem is that I need to vacate the land that I sold and move my equipment and animals over to the new place and the barn would have taken 3 months to complete which would have caused big problems for me as I needed to be out of there 3 days ago:(

The new owners are nice and have permitted me to stay longer thank goodness because I couldn't get it together fast enough for the time period I contracted for when I sold the other finca.

So I decided to build another building first which is pictured below. I am going to use it for storage to begin with and then turn it into servants quarters after. I already rough plumbed it for kitchen and bathroom and will put two ceiling fans in it. It will be a generous sized Dominican type home at some point in the future.

I found on my cellular phone a picture of the property when I first bought it which I posted below. I planted some cuttings the second day just for kicks and giggles. Now it is all cleared of weeds and crap growth and is looking great in a very short period of time. .

I have already planted about 10,000 pieces of either Flowering somethingsorothers, Fruit trees, vegetables and everything I can find to throw in the ground. I buy truckloads of stuff and have my 4 Haitians plant it.

Today was a 1/2 day for my 4 Hatian workers but we put in a French drain where my driveway is going to be using large stone and then smaller stones so the water will run off the property when we next have heavy rains instead of my driveway getting crappy with trucks trying to push through the mud. I had a great assembly line going with two wheelbarrows and two people digging the trench. Wheelbarrows took dirt away and picked up rocks out of my flower and vegetable beds and brought them back to put in the drain. Worked great and for what turned out to be 600 pesos I got it done this morning!

I have an accepted offer on my 2nd condo in El Neptuno and although no money has passed into my hands yet I am pretty confident it will go through next month.

I will start building the home on this property if it does in fact close like we have discussed and I should be able to get the home blocked up and enclosed (windows and doors included) with that money.

I am going to put a garden around the new finca with the goats in the middle surrounded by Stone Walls and either 1 or 2 strands of Barbed Wire to prevent them from getting into the gardens and completely destroying them since they eat everything! Imagine 30 feet border of plants-fruits-vegetables surrounding a 1+ acre pasture for my goats and that is what it will look like!

I am looking to make a beautiful property to enjoy and since this is my second mini farm I know how to do it right and it will be a lot better than my first one becuase of the education I got from doing the first one:) This stone wall is 1 meter high but will have 1 or 2 strands of barbed wired on the top of it to keep the goats in! Yeah if you were going to ask it is freaking expensive to build that bad boy but I am biting the bullet and doing this project right from start to finish to the best of my ability:) I like these stone walls so much I plan on using them in different heights to make pretty the property other than the pasture for the goats and sheep! ------------------------------------------------- Hasta Pronto!

I have had 4 Haitians working for the last four days and you can see one in the foreground wheeling a wheelbarrow full of weeds away! In the lower part you see cuttings that I planted already on the property!

Today I planted even more and I also planted my first Yuca on the property! Yuca takes 8 months to grow before you can eat it and I plan on planting every week so I will always have Yuca for both myself and my friends to eat as well as the people that work for me!

Tomorrow I will plant Banana and Plantains Below you will see what it looked like before the Haitians started working and what they have done so far or partially what they have done! I enjoy working with Haitians as they are good and hard workers! That is what they come for and that is what they do and do it well! This was the property when I bought it! Overgrown with weeds and bushes that were for the most part junk although I do have many fruit and palm trees along with some humongus shade trees! My goats will be living large here in the next 2-3 months:)

I am going to work these 4 guys until I have the whole 13540 m2 cleaned up and the border of the property completely cleared for 10 meters to plant fruit trees-vegetables and every flowering shrub and tree I can find in the country! That was what I did on my other property and I enjoyed every second of it and plan on enjoying this even more!

This is Goat the Matriarch of Finca De Escott in Cabarete Dominican Republic who as you can see is pregnant again and looks like she is going to have at least 3 new kids for us in the next month or so! So far she has only had boys and I am hoping for at least one girl this time! I have three of her sons here on the property and want to have a change of luck this time!:) My Gardener Daniel thinks she is only capable of making boys but that doesn't make sense to me when I bred other animals in the past!

I wanted more girls and the mama who I traded for one of the boys from my last litter was surprisingly Pregnant! These are my new neighbors at my new Finca! I bought a piece a few lots to the left of this home! This next home is a few hundred meters away from my new finca! 3-4 lots away for this one! This home is taken by me standing on my property! No that cows ass isn't mine (Although it is a pretty ass::))and I am going to evict them today since I just closed on my property:) I hope to make this new finca a lot better than the old one and quicker because this new one cost me literally less than half the price I got for the other finca I have had for years and YES this one is over 8000 m2 LARGER!:) It also has better security and neighbors with way larger homes so they may just bring up the property values for me instead of the other way around!

Well my finca that I have had now for 4-5 years is HISTORY! I sold it today at 11:30am and have all the money in my hand!I have worked and worked on this property and here you can see my Coconut tree that I started as a Coconut now having Baby Coconuts! I am going to miss this place for sure although I still have use of it for the next two months as part of the agreement to sell! ---------------- If any of you all know Larry F from NY who now lives in Santo Domingo please tell him I sold it for 333400 US Dollars ---------------- Last time I saw this Boob was when Tom who is known as Chris Colon was here and they came into my restaurant! While we were talking about real estate prices I mentioned that my finca was worth 250k at the time while we were talking about other prices around! ----------------- The Boob got angry with me and called me a liar! He said "I know what you paid for it and it isn't worth 250k now no matter what you say" I got a calculator and showed him 45 US a m2 X 5540 m2 and it came to 249300 US Dollars! He got angry and was saying I didn't know what I was talking about! Tom is my witness because he was at the same table but Tom agreed with me! ------------------- So someone get word to this BOOB that he was right I didn't get 250k I got 333k so it was my mistake! LOL That guy has his head so far up other peoples Ass's he may never see it again:) ------------------- Matter of fact one of the people whos ass his head hides out in a lot is now giving professional advice to people about real estate and charging for it! He has never to my knowledge purchased real estate here (my guess is that he doesn't have the money)or anywhere else but I guess there is something that compells him to feel that he is an expert:) These people are hilarious and I enjoy them completely!:) -------------------- Hey Larry I gave you the chance to respond to my emails but you decided you didn't want to so I figured I would get the message to you another way! LOL ------------------- I have told him to buy real estate here but of course he knew better! I also advised him about other investments but he knew better on that also although he did come around several years later and did invest where I had told him to invest way before! As far as I know he is still invested there but maybe not as I don't really have a reason to keep in touch with him! ------------------- Ok moving right along! New Finca

This is my coconut tree planted from a Coconut! It is the first one to bear fruit or coconuts! It had hundreds of seeds and I have about 10-15 little coconuts now on it! Too bad I won't be able to enjoy them:)

I have had a gardener working here for years! I have bought truckloads of trees both flowering and fruit plus bushes that just flower and have planted loads of stuff from cuttings and seeds! I have eaten off of this property and so have many friends for years now! This last tree I paid 100 US dollars for 6 years ago! It was about 50 years old when I bought it and doesn't grow big! This Coconut tree I planted from seed (A coconut) and now it has coconuts growing from it 4-5 years later!

I took a deposit and am selling this property yesterday! It saddens me a bit because I have really enjoyed this property over the years! The profit from it is too hard to pass up! I didn't list the property and sold it through a broker who was bugging me to sell it for about a year!

Well he finally did it after I kept raising the price! The new owner will be a very fortunate person as he will have literally thousands of flowering shrubs/trees and vegatables!

I am now going to purchase another property in another project that is not too far from this project and start all over again! I will have twice the size of the one I am selling or more depending on which one of my offers get accepted!

I made some mistakes on this property which are correctable that I will try not to do again such as plant too close together because when they grow they crowd everything in! Everything grows so darn fast here it is amazing! I am also going to buy truckloads of black enriched dirt and build walls this time around so the landscaping is a bit more permanent looking!

This time I also have other properties to steal plants from so I will do a lot of that! I will try and move some big stuff onto this property as soon as I aquire it!

Dominican Style Sunday at the River with the sisters and family!

This is Fidel and Aravelli on my new sheep at the finca! We stopped there on the way home from the River Meets the Ocean Spot!

Had a great day with 3 sisters a cousin a boyfriend and a few more cousins and kids! Took a cooler full of beer/Juice/Tequila and water! Came home with some water:)

Went to the spot at the very eastern part of Cabarete where the River meets the Ocean! Great place to go for a very Dominican Sunday! Very few white guys and gals there! We all took turns with the baby who is fabulous! I was thinking about trading in a sister for the other one with the Baby:) Like every Dominican on this earth MAN CAN THEY DANCE! Bunch of hams! Sister in Front has a problem with her tongue all the time for some reason as it is always hanging out of her face:) ------------------------------ Had a super de duper day! Nice people/Cold Beer and lovely kids! ------------------------------ Hasta Pronto!

Houses in the same community as my farm

These houses are the neighboring homes in the community of Lomas Mironas where I have my mini finca! Finca is farm in Spanish in case you didn't know:)

This home is a home that I have admired for a while! I got to look inside of it just the other day and got the tour! I think this is such a sweet basic design and I would build something like this for myself someday/some where:) Nice views from the 2nd level! This is a nicely designed home with a great window although it is a little too open for my nakid self:) This home is in Construction and it is big! Has probably the nicest pool I have ever seen and a Gazebo that is made of concrete to look like Stone! Magnificant! I will probably steal some of the pool ideas for myself as it is the nicest I have ever seen!:) This is also a nice home but the stone wall hides most of it in this shot! I am standing in my finca while taking it! The lower roof lines on the right side are also part of this home and this pic doesn't do it justice! This is another adjoining home although not nearly as big as the last one! ------------------------------------------------------ Hasta Pronto!

Okey Dokey! This is a picture of me kissing my cousin Brett! I love this guy for everything he is! Always has a smile on his face and always has a fresh idea to try out in business and pleasure! Nothing this boy wouldn't try! In College the boy had a Condom Van making rounds:)

Next pic is from Left to Right Cuzin Rickles von Tickles-Cuzin Brett and of course yours truly! Loved hanging out with these guys and I spent 4 solid days with them and wanted more! Ok this last picture was taken at Playa Grande Beach! My Cuz Bret actually got hustled by Cuz Rickles and Cuz Craig! We also found 3 other guys there which we knew would be there trying to longboard surf! The one standing with my cuz Brett is from NJ and their fathers have been friends forever! The one I am talking with lives in Cabarete and is a Surfer Boy! Standing to my right is Cuz Craig and Cuz Rickles! Cuz Craig took home all the money on the golf course that day and was already getting the hustle going for the next days golf which didn't happen! We went home from here and got a flat tire! Hit a humongo hole in the road that I didn't see because I was behind some huge Truck! Changed the tire and stopped off and purchased another used one-had the wheel banged out all for 1000 pesos or 33 US dollars:) Way better than arguing when returning the rent a car for sure!

These are two good friends of mine Herman and Herbert! It is nice to have them both here at the same time! Last night we ended up having Sushi in Cabarete after the other choice was closed! If you haven't tried Bliss and the sushi restaurant in Cabarete you ought to! Today we are going to Puerto Plata together to get some business taken care of for everyone!

Cuz in town

I just had my cuz here from Atlanta with two friends for 4 days! My cousin Brett is in the middle! I love this guy-always calm cool and collected and always looking to have a good time!

I told these guys to just book another flight when they got back to Atlanta and return as soon as possible! We went to Playa Grande for golf one day that started at 7 am and I didn't get home till 1:30am! These guys can go all day and all night while I need naps to just get through the day:) They enjoyed all of "Escotts North Coast Tour" and love my mini finca where this last picture was taken! These are Atlanta City boys and never saw goats or sheep before I don't think:)
